Parent Education
A Shared Journey of Learning
At SOL, we believe that a school is more than a place where children learn, it is a community where families, educators, and children grow together. While our work is centered on the child, we recognize that children flourish most fully when the adults in their lives are supported, informed, and connected. Parent education is an essential part of this shared journey. When families deepen their understanding of Montessori philosophy, child development, and the values that guide our community, they are better able to support their child’s growth with confidence and care, both at school and at home. Learning at SOL is understood as a lifelong process, one that invites curiosity, reflection, and growth at every stage of life.
Throughout the school year, SOL offers a variety of parent education opportunities designed to nurture a meaningful partnership between home and school. Parent Discovery Nights invite families into guided exploration of Montessori principles, developmental milestones, and practical strategies for supporting children’s learning and development. These bi-monthly evening gatherings provide both practical insight and philosophical grounding, helping parents better understand the purpose behind classroom practices and the deeper intentions of Montessori education. Whenever possible, childcare is provided to support participation.
To further support accessibility and connection, SOL also offers SOL Morning Meetups, daytime gatherings designed for families whose schedules are better suited to mornings. Hosted over coffee and tea, Morning Meetups explore many of the same themes as Parent Discovery Nights in a relaxed yet purposeful setting. These conversations are guided by Montessori philosophy and SOL’s values, offering parents clarity, encouragement, and practical guidance for supporting their child’s independence, emotional growth, and moral development at home.
Connection and belonging are central to our mission, and we believe these do not happen by chance. SOL intentionally creates opportunities for parents to form relationships with one another, for educators to collaborate and grow together, and for families and guides to communicate openly about each child’s journey. Periodic whole-school gatherings, shared reflection, and avenues for parent voice and participation help strengthen the sense of unity that defines our community.
Beyond education, SOL offers spiritual growth for families, including the Reflections on the Life of the Spirit study circle. This welcoming, reflective space for adults explores identity, purpose, prayer, and service using Bahá’í Writings. Through reading, discussion, art, and reflection, participants apply spiritual values to daily life and service, reflecting SOL’s commitment to moral and spiritual development.
Parent education at SOL is not about having all the answers, but about learning together, with openness, humility, and hope. By growing as a community of learners, families and educators strengthen the foundation upon which children thrive, nurturing not only academic growth, but also character, connection, and a deep love of learning.

Partnership with Families
Our school is a community that extends beyond our students. We believe in building a strong partnership with families, working collaboratively to support each child’s growth, because children do best when home and school are aligned.
