Summer Programs at SOL
A Season of Growth, Exploration, and Joy
Summer at SOL offers children a joyful continuation of Montessori life, guided by the same principles of independence, respect, and purposeful activity, infused with the openness, playfulness, and wonder of the season. Our Summer Programs provide children with consistency and care while embracing the freedom, creativity, and exploration that summer invites.
Rooted in SOL’s values, summer experiences gently nurture qualities such as curiosity, creativity, kindness, and cooperation, supporting the whole child during a season of lightness and growth.
To support family travel and changing schedules, summer enrollment is offered on a week-by-week basis, allowing families flexibility while children remain connected to the SOL community. Families may choose between a half-day program, offered Monday through Friday from 9:00–13:00, or a full-day program, running Monday through Friday from 9:00–16:00. A snack is provided during the half-day program, with lunch enjoyed at home. For children enrolled in the full-day program, both lunch and snack are provided as part of the daily rhythm.
Toddler Summer Community: Ages 15 Months–3 Years
Our Toddler Summer Community offers a gentle extension of the school year in a familiar, nurturing environment supported by caring adults who understand the developmental needs of young children. The daily rhythm remains comfortable and predictable, helping toddlers feel secure while enjoying the unique pleasures of summer.
Days often include:
· Gardening and caring for plants
· Water play and outdoor exploration
· Music, movement, and sensory activities
· Practical life work that supports independence and coordination
Spending extended time outdoors allows toddlers to explore freely, build confidence through movement, and delight in the natural world. Familiar routines, attentive caregivers, and a calm atmosphere ensure that each child feels supported as they grow, explore, and begin to develop early social awareness and self-confidence.
Full-day options are offered for a limited number of weeks, with priority given to current full-day SOL Toddler students.
Children’s House Summer Program: Ages 3–6
The Children’s House Summer Program blends the richness of the Montessori classroom with the energy and creativity of summer. Children enjoy their mornings in a prepared Montessori environment with direct access to the outdoors, followed by afternoons filled with exploration, play, and connection.
Mornings often include:
· Practical life activities such as food preparation, flower arranging, and care of the environment
· Sensorial exploration and Montessori-inspired lessons in language, mathematics, culture, botany, and zoology
· Gardening, outdoor work, and nature-based discovery
Afternoons offer a lighter, camp-inspired rhythm with:
· Creative arts and crafts
· Music, movement, and games
· Baking, special projects, and outdoor play
· Occasional splash days and seasonal activities
Quiet rest time is available for children who need it, while older children may continue with gentle work or small-group activities. Throughout the day, children are supported by attentive, experienced adults who foster safety, independence, cooperation, and positive social experiences within a caring community.

Summer Enrollment & Next Steps
Families who are not yet part of the SOL school community and would like to learn more about our summer offerings are warmly welcome to contact us.
Summer at SOL is a time for children to grow, explore, and delight in learning, building friendships, deepening independence, and enjoying meaningful days rooted in discovery, creativity, and belonging.
As a new school, SOL is taking a thoughtful and measured approach to summer programming. While summer offerings are not available in our first year, we plan to introduce them in future years as the school grows, ensuring that each program reflects the same care, quality, and values that guide the academic year.
