Parent and Infant Classes

Birth-14 Months

The infant stage is where the journey begins, bringing with it wonder, joy, and many new questions. At SOL Montessori, our Parent & Infant classes welcome families with children from birth to 14 months, offering a nurturing space for connection, learning, and shared discovery during these precious early months.

The First Steps of the Journey

The infant stage is where the journey begins, bringing with it wonder, joy, and many new questions. At SOL Montessori, our Parent & Infant classes welcome families with children from birth to 14 months, offering a nurturing space for connection, learning, and shared discovery during these precious early months.

An Environment Prepared for Discovery

Families enter an authentic Montessori environment honoring infant potential. Low shelves and beautiful materials foster movement, sensory exploration, and belonging. Caregivers explore alongside babies, observing how this prepared space nurtures independence and respectful learning.

Expert Guidance and Practical Insight

Led by an Early Childhood Specialist, these engaging Adult–Child Play & Learn sessions offer parents time to observe, ask questions, and deepen their understanding of early development, Montessori principles, and respectful caregiving. Through guided discussion and shared reflection, families gain practical insight into supporting their child’s growth both in the classroom and at home.

Building a Supportive Community

These classes also offer an opportunity to build meaningful connections with other families. Parents and caregivers are invited to share experiences, reflect together on the joys and challenges of early parenthood, and find reassurance within a welcoming community grounded in mutual care and understanding.

A Collaborative Approach to Caregiving

Our leaders guide families in nurturing development and creating mindful home environments. Welcoming all caregivers, we view childcare as a collaborative act of love. Families join a supportive community committed to connection, reflection, and mutual well-being.

Ongoing Learning and Engagement

Throughout the year, SOL also offers parent talks and discussion opportunities that further support families during these formative years, creating space for continued learning, reflection, and connection. Families are invited to contact our office to learn more about class offerings and our annual schedule.

What Parents Gain

from the Parent and Infant Program

Parent/Caregiver & Infant classes are offered in seasonal cohorts throughout the year, allowing families to join at a time that best fits their rhythm. Fall cohorts run from September to November, Winter from December to February, Spring from March to May, and Summer from June to July. Each cohort includes eight weekly sessions, held from 9:30–11:00 a.m., providing a consistent and nurturing routine for both parent/caregiver and child.

Families may choose to attend either a Tuesday or Thursday session and are asked to commit to the same day each week to support continuity and community within the group. Please contact the SOL office for pricing.

We look forward to having you and your little ones with us!

The Journey Continues

When your child begins walking with confidence, they are ready to transition into our Toddler Community, a nurturing Montessori environment that supports curiosity, independence, and continued growth. Families may choose between a morning program or a school, day option, offering a flexible and developmentally appropriate next step for this exciting stage of early childhood.

A Resource for Families: Montessori From the Start

Montessori from the Start: The Child at Home, from Birth to Age Three, by Paula Polk Lillard and Lynn Lillard Jessen, is a widely respected resource for families interested in understanding Montessori principles during the earliest years of life. Thoughtfully written and accessible, the book offers clear guidance on supporting infants and toddlers with respect, intention, and awareness of developmental needs.

Grounded in the work of Dr. Maria Montessori, the authors explore how hands-on experiences, independence, and thoughtful caregiving can be nurtured from birth. The book provides practical insight into creating supportive home environments and responding to everyday aspects of early childhood, always with an emphasis on honoring the child’s natural development and inner life.

Many families in our Parent & Infant community find Montessori from the Start to be a helpful reference as they navigate questions around sleep, feeding, toileting, and early independence. We share this resource as a meaningful companion for parents who wish to deepen their understanding and continue learning beyond the classroom.
